Dexterity analysis and robot hand design

    Get PDF
Understanding about a dexterous robot hand's motion ranges is important to the precision grasping and precision manipulation. A planar robot hand is studied for object orientation, including ranges of motion, measures with respect to the palm, position reaching of a point in the grasped object, and rotation of the object about the reference point. The rotational dexterity index and dexterity chart are introduced and an analysis procedure is developed for calculating these quantities. A design procedure for determining the hand kinematic parameters based on a desired partial or complete dexterity chart is also developed. These procedures have been tested in detail for a planar robot hand with two 2- or 3-link fingers. The derived results are shown to be useful to performance evaluation, kinematic parameter design, and grasping motion planning for a planar robot hand

Objective To develop a scoring system to measure physical morbidity in critical care – the Chelsea Critical Care Physical Assessment Tool (CPAx). Method The development process was iterative involving content validity indices (CVI), a focus group and an observational study of 33 patients to test construct validity against the Medical Research Council score for muscle strength, peak cough flow, Australian Therapy Outcome Measures score, Glasgow Coma Scale score, Bloomsbury sedation score, Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score, Short Form 36 (SF-36) score, days of mechanical ventilation and inter-rater reliability. Participants Trauma and general critical care patients from two London teaching hospitals. Results Users of the CPAx felt that it possessed content validity, giving a final CVI of 1.00 (P < 0.05). Construct validation data showed moderate to strong significant correlations between the CPAx score and all secondary measures, apart from the mental component of the SF-36 which demonstrated weak correlation with the CPAx score (r = 0.024, P = 0.720). Reliability testing showed internal consistency of α = 0.798 and inter-rater reliability of κ = 0.988 (95% confidence interval 0.791 to 1.000) between five raters. Conclusion This pilot work supports proof of concept of the CPAx as a measure of physical morbidity in the critical care population, and is a cogent argument for further investigation of the scoring system

The purpose of this research was to examine The Effect of Brand Awareness and Price Discount on Purchase Intention as mediated by the image of Seafood Restaurant New Javana in Surabaya. The data were collected by means of questionnaire for getting the response from the respondents on the 76 people. Sampling method is the Accidental Sampling conducted by questionnaire that is spread in a Restaurant Seafood New Java-na. Analysis technique used to test the relation of independent variables, mediating vari-able, and dependent variable is the Path Analysis with SPSS software for 16 Windows. This research shows that brand awareness and price discounts are significant and simul-taneous partial influence on the image of the restaurant. Brand awareness and purchase intent affect significantly, either directly or with the mediated image of the restaurant. Discount price does not affect significantly purchase intention. However, the discount price does not affect significantly purchase intent. But, the discount price can affect pur-chase intent significantly mediated the image of the restaurant

A Study of Morris-Thorne Wormhole in Einstein-Cartan Theory

This paper focuses on the Einstein-Cartan theory, an extension of general relativity that incorporates a torsion tensor into spacetime. The differential form technique is employed to analyze the Einstein-Cartan theory, which replaces tensors with tetrads. A tetrad formalism, specifically the Newmann-Penrose-Jogia-Griffiths formalism, is used to study the field equations. The energy-momentum tensor is also determined, considering a Weyssenhoff fluid with anisotropic matter. The spin density is derived in terms of the red-shift function. We also examine the energy conditions at the throat of a Morris-Thorne wormhole. The results shed light on the properties of wormholes in the context of the Einstein-Cartan theory, including the energy conditions at the throat.Comment: 20 pages, 3 figures, 1 table. Earnings management is an act that is not easy to avoid because of the impact of the use of the accrual basis in preparing the financial statements. In this study, real earnings management with operating cash flow approach proxies on firm performance using indicators Return on Assets (ROA) and Tobins Q. Sample used in this study is a manufacturing company using sample selection criteria. Methods this study uses descriptive analysis and statistical analysis methods. Hypothesis testing is performed using the t test and F test, with a significance level (α) of 5 persen. The results of the regression analysis for this study indicate that real earnings management approach to operating cash flow effect on the companys performance indicators Return on Assets (ROA) and no effect on companys performance indicators Tobins Q. Kata Kunci: Real earnings management, ROA, Tobin s Q

Extended Skyrme interaction (I): spin fluctuations in dense matter

Most of the Skyrme interactions are known to predict spin or isospin instabilities beyond the saturation density of nuclear matter which contradict predictions based on realistic interactions. A modification of the standard Skyrme interaction is proposed so that the ferromagnetic instability is removed. The new terms are density dependent and modify only the spin p-h interaction in the case of spin-saturated system. Consequences for the nuclear response function and neutrino mean free path are shown. The overall effect of the RPA correlations makes dense matter more transparent for neutrino propagation by a factor of 2 to 10 depending of the density.Comment: 6 pages, 5 Figs., 2 Tab
